The city of Bogotá, capital of the Republic of Colombia, is located in the geographic center of the national territory, at 2,640 m above sea level, on the eastern edge of the Bogotá savannah, it is an extensive plain crossed by north to south along the Bogotá River, which culminates its journey in the spectacular waterfall known as the Tequendama waterfall. In the city of Bogotá the climate varies constantly, however, it is characterized by having a moderately cold climate, 14ºC on average. Even so, because it is a tropical climate, the cold is accentuated when it rains and on very sunny days the thermal sensation can increase to 23ºC or more.
The driest months are those of January, February, March and December; the rainiest are those of April August September October and November.
Bogotá is the most important center of Government in the country, seat of the executive, legislative and judicial powers and place of residence of the President of the Republic. Since 1954 it was constituted as a special district and incorporated the municipalities of Usme, Bosa, Fontibón, Engativá, Suba and Usaquén. It currently consists of 20 locations including rural and urban sectors. Today it is the Capital District.
It has the main airport and the most visited in South America, as it is a strategic connection point between Europe, the United States, Central America and South America. It has also received various awards, including having the best staff in South America and an award for airport excellence for the implementation of biosafety protocols.

Bogotá has innumerable places to visit, fantastic museums that preserve the history of Colombia, such as the Gold Museum, unique in the world for its collection of pre-Columbian goldsmiths, the National Museum, the first to be opened in the city, Museum of Religious Art, guard the monstrances made with the most beautiful emeralds and precious stones of the region, the Botero Museum and the Museum of Colonial Art among others.
There are also beautiful parks that call for an encounter with nature, such as Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park, La Florida Park, Timiza Park and the Tibabuyes, La Vaca, La Conejera, El burro and Santa Maria del Lago wetlands, among many others, where the bird watching is an activity inherent to the city.

Eastern hills of Monserrate and Guadalupe
It is the area that presents the greatest scenic interest. The majestic tutelary hills of the city of Monserrate and Guadalupe are part of the extensive mountain range that borders the eastern side of the Bogotá savannah, in the eastern mountain range of the Colombian Andes. Tickets for the ascent by mechanical means to Monserrate are purchased at the funicular station located at Carrera 2 Este with Calle 21, a beautiful colonial-style mansion located at the foot of the hill. The tour takes place in the middle of lush eucalyptus forests; the perspective of the city changes as height is gained. the panorama that can be seen from the top is simply spectacular: in the foreground you can see the historic center of the city, the international center and the surrounding low-rise neighborhoods; towards the West in the north and south directions you can see the urban development of the metropolis made up of urban complexes, neighborhoods, parks. avenues and green areas. In the background you can see the mountain range that borders the western side of the Bogotá savannah. On the top of the hill is the sanctuary of the same name, inside which is the image of the fallen lord of Monserrate, a carving made by Pedro de Lugo and Albarracín in the 16th century, to which tradition attributes healing powers. On the hill there are two restaurants that offer exquisite cuisine; Santa Clara and Casa San Isidro, the first specialized in French food, works in a Republican-style house built in 1906 and moved from the town of Usaquén to the hill; the second offers an excellent buffet of delicious dishes from Santa Fe cuisine, it operates in a colonial-style room built in 1927.
There are also different traditional places of Colombian culture located next to the Church, where you can taste the typical cuisine of the region, prepared by the hands of families from local communities.
The view of the city from the top of the hill, whether during the day or at night, is fascinating; The city can be seen in its magnitude from east to west, what was formerly called Valle de los Alcázares, an immense plain of fertile land.
